Common Water Treatment Methods for Boilers

April 06, 2025
The common water treatment methods for boilers mainly include chemical treatment, physical treatment and ion exchange. The details are as follows:
1.Chemical treatment method
Adjusting water quality by adding chemicals to boiler water, such as:
Oxidants (remove organic and inorganic suspended matter)
Corrosion inhibitors (form a protective film to prevent corrosion)
Scale inhibitors (inhibit scaling of calcium and magnesium ions)
Alkalinity regulators (control pH value)
These agents improve water quality through chemical reactions and are the core means of boiler water treatment.
2.Physical treatment method
Physical removal of impurities from boiler water:
Sedimentation: Use gravity to separate suspended matter
Filtration: Use sand, activated carbon and other media to intercept impurities
3.Ion exchange method
Ion exchange method is a method of removing hardness ions (such as calcium and magnesium ions) from boiler water using ion exchange resin.
